Big add for that conference and conversely a huge loss for the Missouri Valley. Now with them joining Cincy, Memphis and UConn among others, it starts to look like a more viable challenger (though not there yet) to the Big East as the best non Power 5 conference.

As a fan, I’m saddened to see what’s happening to the Valley though. Some of my memories are of schools from that league making noise. Indiana State and Bird but then Wichita State with Carr and Levingston, Tulsa under Nolan Richardson with wild uniforms and Paul Pressey, more recently Tulsa teams under guys like Self and Tubby, Bruce Weber’s run at Southern Illinois, Creighton and the Wichita revival under Marshall, etc. It’s a great conference with tremendous fan support and a ton of history. Seeing some of the flagship programs leave is a bummer.
