1. Is this it for Ol’Roy? There’ve been a lot of rumors that he’s done after this due to the impending NCAA findings, which I believe are anticipated within the next 4-6 weeks.
I just have a hard time imagining him staying, though you never can tell for sure with people in a job like coaching. His health has been an issue in recent years, he’s got the NCAA stuff looming, and while they certainly won’t be devoid of talent, it isn’t likely to be a typical Carolina team next year. The incoming class is good, probably better than people thought he’d be able to pull in given the circumstances, but I don’t think there’s a surefire instant impact star, and they’re losing at least the two best players in Paige and Johnson…and that’s if no one else decides to go pro.
Definitely one to watch and I suspect Ol’Roy is not going to like the tenor of the questions he’ll be facing now, which will mostly circulate around his future plans.
2. Now with Jay Wright. I’ve low-key seen his name mentioned for NBA jobs in the past, though nothing’s come *that* close to happening. Now, though? He just turned 53…if he were going to make that kind of move, this would be the time. I have no idea if that’s in the cards at all…this one is purely speculation on my part. However, it’s the sort of thing that seems to always get asked of guys who get to this point, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see his name mentioned with NBA openings in the near future.
