Predicted standings (this is based on looking at every conference game…it isn’t reflective of what I think of these teams’ strengths as much as it’s how I think they’ll fare with the schedule they have)

1. Michigan State – Don’t think MSU is the most talented team top to bottom but they’re close and the schedule gives them the edge.

2. IU

3. Maryland – Best talent overall but tougher schedule compared to the other two puts them here…but it’s tight. I have MSU at 15 wins, IU at 14 and Maryland at 13. If Maryland wins the conference they will absolutely have earned it.

4. Purdue, Wisconsin & Michigan (TIE) – Again, scheduling impacts this, as I think Purdue and M are slightly better than the Badgers but have them all finishing with the same record.

7. Illinois – Schedule helps, as does the maturation of guys like Hill and Nunn. Also got a big boost as freshman guard Jalen Coleman looks like he’ll be able to start the season with them, overcoming a summertime stress fracture.

8. Iowa & Ohio State (TIE)

10.Northwestern & Nebraska (TIE)

12. Minnesota & PSU (TIE) – Gophers aren’t this bad…in fact, I’d probably put them ahead of both NUs in terms of pure talent, but I hate their schedule.

14. Rutgers
